Tyler Perry’s studio fire could be a message from racists: “Stick to wearing dresses. DO NOT talk about racism. DO NOT interfere with our business.”

thanks Gus

Tyler Perry‘s Atlanta studio was decimated by a 4 ALARM FIRE on Tuesday, May 1st. Peraps this was a message to Perry: “Stick to wearing dresses. Do Not Talk About Racism. Do Not interfere with our business.”

Al Sharpton interviews actor Tyler Perry about his call for justice for two Florida non-white males — Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos — who mysteriously vanished under similar circumstances. Perry also wrote a lengthy report on being “racially profiled” by White enforcement officers.

Read portions of his report below:

A few days before President Obama was supposed to speak at my studio, I was leaving the studio, headed to the airport. Most times when I leave the studio I have an unmarked escort. Other times I constantly check in my rearview mirror to be sure that I’m not being followed. It’s a safety precaution that my security team taught me. As I got to an intersection, I made a left turn from the right lane and was pulled over by two police officers. I pulled the car over and put it in park. Then, I let the window down and sat in the car waiting for the officer. The officer came up to the driver’s door and said that I made an illegal turn. I said, “I signaled to get into the turning lane, then made the turn because I have to be sure I’m not being followed.” He said, “why do you think someone would be following you?”

Before I could answer him, I heard a hard banging coming from the passenger window. I had never been in this position before so I asked the officer who was at my window what was going on and why is someone banging on the window like that. He said, “let your window down, let your window down. Your windows are tinted.” As I let down the passenger window, there was another officer standing on the passenger side of the car. He said, “what is wrong with you?” The other officer said to him, “he thinks he’s being followed.” Then, the second officer said, “why do you think someone is following you? What is wrong with you?”

Before I could answer the officer on the passenger side, the one on the driver’s side had reached into the car and started pulling on the switch that turns the car on and off, saying, “put your foot on the brake, put your foot on the brake!” I was so confused as to what he was doing, or what he thought he was doing. It looked like he was trying to pull the switch out of the dashboard. I finally realized that he thought that switch was the key, so I told him that it wasn’t the key he was grabbing. I reached down into the cup holder to get the key, not realizing that the key had a black leather strap on it. As I grabbed it they both tensed up and I dropped it as I heard my mother’s voice from when I was a little boy.

My mother would always say to me, “if you get stopped by the police, especially if they are white policemen, you say ‘yes sir’ and ‘no sir’, and if they want to take you in, you go with them. Don’t resist, you hear me? Don’t make any quick moves, don’t run, you just go.” My mother was born in 1945 into a segregated hotbed town in rural Louisiana. She had known of many colored men at the time who were lynched and never heard from again. Since I was her only son for ten years, growing up she was so worried about me. It wasn’t until after I heard her voice that I realized that both of these officers were white.

The officer on the driver’s side continued to badger me, “why do you think someone is following you?” I then said, “I think you guys need to just write the ticket and do whatever you need to do.” It was so hostile. I was so confused. It was happening so fast that I could easily see how this situation could get out of hand very quickly. I didn’t feel safe at all. But one officer stopped his questioning and said, “we may not let you go. You think you’re being followed, what’s wrong with you?” At this point, I told him that I wanted to get out of the car. I wanted the passersby to see what was happening.

As I stepped out of the car another officer pulled up in front of my car. This officer was a black guy. He took one look at me and had that “Oh No” look on his face. He immediately took both officers to the back of my car and spoke to them in a hushed tone. After that, one of the officers stayed near his car while one came back, very apologetic.

I said all of that to say this: do you see how quickly this could have turned for the worse?

Now I know that there are many great officers, patrolmen and security guys out there. I am aware of that. But although we have made significant strides with racial profiling in this country, the world needs to know that we are still being racially profiled, and until this situation has improved greatly, I’m not sure how a murder in Florida can be protected by a “stand your ground law.”

RACIAL PROFILING SHOULD BE A HATE CRIME INVESTIGATED BY THE FBI!

white male sentenced to 30 years in prison for child porn after he loses his phone containing thousands of images

30 years: Gary Lee Jackson, 26, of Garland, pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography and to possessing more than 1,000 such images

Prosecutors say the discovery of a misplaced cellphone with child pornography images has led to 30 years in prison for a North Texas man.

A federal judge in Dallas on Tuesday sentenced 26-year-old Gary Lee Jackson of Garland after he pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography and to possessing more than 1,000 such images.

It was the maximum possible sentence.

Police say an individual contacted officers last August about child porn images on a cellphone that Jackson left in the person’s car.

Jackson told police that he has a history of exploiting children.

An officer testified that Jackson described how in 2007 a woman named Amber Schmidt ‘bought’ him a 12-year-old girl for his birthday.

Jackson says he molested the child.

He also told police he had molested and exploited children since he was a teenager, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

He allegedly said that he repeatedly molested a five-year-old last year and once took a 13-year-old’s virginity.

An officer with the Garland Police Department testified that Jackson admitted to him that when he was a teenager, he convinced a three and a six-year-old to remove their clothing for him.

Schmidt in January pleaded guilty to transporting and shipping child porn. She awaits sentencing.

white female arrested for taking daughter, 5, into tanning booth

A New Jersey woman was arrested after police said she brought her 5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth, causing the girl to suffer burns.

But 44-year-old Patricia Krentcil, who was charged with second-degree child endangerment, said her daughter was never exposed to the tanning booth’s UV rays and instead got slightly sunburned while playing outside on a warm day.

The girl’s father told NBC 4 New York his daughter told classmates at school that she “went tanning with Mommy.” He thinks a teacher overheard, inaccurately connected the girl’s sunburn to the tanning salon trip and contacted police.

“This whole big thing happened, and everyone got involved,” said Rich Krentcil. “It was 85 degrees outside, she got sunburned. That’s it. That’s all that happened.”

Patricia Krentcil said she treats her tanning salon trips as an errand in which she brings along her daughter, but insists the booth lights were never exposed to the girl.

“It’s like taking your daughter to go food shopping,” she told NBC 4 New York at her Nutley, N.J. home after being released on $25,000 bail. “There’s tons of moms that bring their children in.”

“I tan, she doesn’t tan,” she continued. “I’m in the booth, she’s in the room. That’s all there is to it.”

The incident happened over a week ago, but there did not appear to be any burns on the little girl Tuesday.

Patricia Krentcil said she’s been visiting her local salon for more than 10 years, and doesn’t know why her visits there with her daughter have suddenly been called into question.

In New Jersey, children under 14 are not allowed to tan at indoor salons, while those 14 to 17 years old may do so with signed parental consent.

“My daughter’s a beautiful girl who loves school, who had to go through this, and I think it’s traumatizing for a little girl who did nothing wrong but got a little sunburned,” Krentcil said.

She is expected to appear in court Wednesday and hopes to convince the judge it was all a misunderstanding.

Racial slurs lead to 4-game suspension for lacrosse team

Lacrosse is a rough game, but rough language is out of bounds when it comes to racial slurs. The Clarence School District has suspended its modified girls lacrosse team over comments made during a game against Sweet Home.

Brendan Cullinan watched the boys modified team play lacrosse Monday night in Clarence. The girls modified team has been suspended from play for the next four games after allegations that multiple players used racial slurs during a game against Sweet Home last Thursday.

Cullinan said, “They’re forfeiting the next four games, which is outrageous. It’s preposterous. This never would’ve happened when we were younger. I talked to kids on the team, they said it didn’t happen. Clarence was up 18 to 4, there was no reason to gloat.”

Shari Ahlers, a mother of a suspended player, added, “They’re good girls they play hard.”

Ahlers’ daughter is one of the 23 seventh and eighth graders who make up the lacrosse team.

“They’re very hurt by this. They do not want to be painted with this brush and they do feel that if it gets out in the media that they are racist, then that is a reputation they will carry all through high school, and they do not like that,” she explained.

The Clarence School Superintendent wouldn’t do an on camera interview, but sent out a letter which reads, “Although there was no admission of using a racial slur by any Clarence lacrosse player, we have determined that there is enough evidence to believe that the allegations have merit, additionally, the mere existence of such allegations demands that we respond accordingly.”

Ahlers responded, “I think that race relations in our country is a hot button issue right now and I think they just punish first and figure it out later.”

Sweet Home parent Jennifer Keem said, “It doesn’t surprise me that kids are saying these things. I think you hear it a lot unfortunately. In general, you’ll hear things like that from kids on the field just talking kind of like, smack.”

Clarence Superintendent Geoffrey Hicks says discriminatory remarks will not be tolerated and parents with questions about the team suspension can attend a meeting Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Clarence Middle School. A note regarding the incident was sent home with players on Monday.

In addition to the four-game suspension, the girls on the team will have to undergo diversity training with the National Federation for Just Communities, learning about different cultures and ethnicities.

The full letter from the Clarence Superintendent is below:

Dear Parent,

On April 27, 2012 the District was made aware of allegations that multiple players from the Modified Clarence Girls Lacrosse team had used racial slurs during a game against Sweet Home that was played on Aril 26, 2012. Upon notification of these allegations, the District immediately began investigating to determine the facts. Administrators in Sweet Home also conducted an investigation.

Both Sweet Home and Clarence concluded their investigations on Monday, April 30. Although there was no admission of using a racial slur by any Clarence lacrosse player, we have determined that there is evidence to believe that the allegations of wrongdoing have merit. Additionally, the mere existence of such allegations demands that we respond accordingly.

The use of such language is contrary to the values that define our school district and is also in violation of our prescribed code of conduct. We are compelled to take action in order to ensure that our student athletes fully understand that language deemed to discriminate against or demean any group has no place in school or athletic setting.

To that end the girls modified lacrosse team is suspended from competition for 4 games. All team members will also be required to participate in an awareness and sensitivity program from the National Federation for Just Communities during their regular practice time as a condition of remaining on the team.

A Parent Meeting will be held on Tuesday May 1 at 5:00 pm in the Middle School Auditorium to review team expectations and answer questions.
