A California cross-dresser was arrested on suspicion of murdering, dismembering and cooking his 73-year-old wife just days before Thanksgiving, according to cops. Frederick Hengl, 68, pleaded not guilty to murder on Wednesday. Investigators found pieces of his wife Anna Faris’ body cooking in pots on the stove at the couple’s Oceanside home early Friday. They were responding to neighbors’ complaints about a foul whitemarish odor. Faris’ severed head was found in the freezer. Cops saw no signs of cannibalism but found several freshly cut bones, a saw, and a boning knife, they said. Hengl was captured at a nearby bar having a beer. Law enforcers think he was home during the time of the raid but snuck out. He’s known around the neighborhood for wearing makeup and women’s clothes. Faris was sometimes spotted strolling the streets with a butcher knife and appeared mentally disabled, neighbors said. Authorities haven’t determined Faris’ cause of death but say she was killed in November. Hengl remains behind bars on $5 million bail. Charges he faces include willful cruelty to an elder and committing an unlawful act with human remains.
