For those not interested in the Souper Bowl, here’s a good old fashion style documentary series on the first World War:
Yes, it’s a 10-hour series, but you actually need all that time to fully understand what and how it occurred.
The pro “Anglo-American bias” is not too over the top and they do a pretty good job of describing the elastic nature of “self interest” when it comes to “choosing sides.”
In addition, the production qualities are clean and simple; narration with archive footage, no CGI or flashy graphics… the content carries itself.
It’s like those classic early 80s Peter Ustinov voice-over docs they used to make.
Watching this series makes me wonder what the next world war will look like?
