The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Charles U. Phillips. Dr. Phillips is the first and former director/chief of the Miami-Dade County fire department. After leaving the department, Dr. Phillips wrote his autobiography to details his experiences with scorching south Florida Racism, Fighting More Than Fires: Memoirs of Charles U. Phillips. Dr. Phillips offers a riveting account of daily, raw Racist acts aimed at black recruits to the Miami-Dade County fire department. Will get details on things Racists Whites did to sabotage the employment of he and other black recruits. We’ll also get details on how Whites created an environment of mistrust between black fire fighters – keeping Victims of Racism in conflict with and suspicious of each other. We’ll also discuss the accusations that led to his exit from the department. We’ll see what advice Dr. Phillips can offer from the hindsight of his prolific career.
