A contract nurse at Judson High School has been fired after calling students there “wannabe thugs” in a Facebook post.

Liza Rodriguez-Helms, a nurse hired to care for students with special needs, was terminated last week after posting racially charged complaints about the school and its student population on her Facebook profile, Judson ISD spokesman Steve Linscomb confirmed Wednesday.

“It feels as if I am walking through the ghetto with the way these kids (yes black kids) talk as if they have never been educated,” Rodriguez-Helms wrote in the post.

Her Facebook profile has been deleted, but a screenshot of her remarks made the rounds last week on social media.

District officials corroborated Rodriguez-Helms’ post after receiving a complaint and severed her contract the same day, Linscomb said.
