White Mother Indicted In Tennessee For Incest, Child Rape | Cynical Afrikan

Elizabeth MontgomeryThis fugly beast from Oregon has been indicted by a grand jury in Tennessee on charges of incest and child rape that occurred while she lived in Murfreesboro more than a decade ago.

According to reports 50-year-old Angela Elizabeth Montgomery of Portland, was indicted on 38 sexually based charges last week.

Law enforcement officials initially charged her with two counts of child rape in August after her two children gave cops detailed statements about rapes and sexual terrorism they suffered when they lived in Murfreesboro more than a decade ago.

The new charges returned by the grand jury indicate that additional crimes may have been committed against two other children as recently as 2009. The incestuous savage is scheduled to appear in court next Monday.

Rhonda Lee Fired: TV Station Responds To Meteorologist’s Claim She Was Fired For Facebook Comments About Her Natural Hair

Rhonda Lee

The news that Louisiana television station KTBS fired meteorologist Rhonda Lee is getting a lot of folks … well, fired up. Twitter is ablaze with outraged comments like “KTBS owes Rhonda Lee an apology & shld [sic] give her back her job!” and “sistah just can’t win!!! Meteorologist fired for responding to ignorant posts.” Online petitions are also starting to pop up in support of Lee.

Lee was terminated from her position at KTBS 3 News, an ABC affiliate in Shreveport, La., after responding to racially charged remarks about her short natural hairstyle. The exchange between Lee and a KTBS viewer happened back in October on KTBS 3 News’ Facebook page, where a viewer, Emmitt Vascocu, posted a comment that referred to Lee as the “black lady that does the news” and suggested that she should “wear a wig or grown some more hair.” Lee responded to Vascocu’s comment at length on the Facebook thread, saying, “I’m sorry you don’t like my ethnic hair. And no I don’t have cancer,” Lee wrote. “I am very proud of my African-American ancestry which includes my hair. For your edification: traditionally our hair doesn’t grow downward. It grows upward.”

In the end, Vascocu apologized to Lee via Facebook and reportedly called KTBS’s station manager to express his regret as well.

However, in the wake of all the publicity surrounding Lee’s firing, KTBS has issued a statement making it clear that they do not typically comment on personal matters, but felt that due to the interest surrounding the issue, it has decided to speak out. Here is KTBS’ official statement:

On November 28, 2012, KTBS dismissed two employees for repeated violation of the station’s written procedure. We can confirm that Rhonda Lee was one of the employees. Another employee was a white male reporter who was an eight year veteran of the station. The policy they violated provided a specific procedure for responding to viewer comments on the official KTBS Facebook page. Included is an email that was sent to all news department employees informing them of this procedure. This procedure is based on advice from national experts and commonly used by national broadcast and cable networks and local television stations across the country. Unfortunately, television personalities have long been subject to harsh criticism and negative viewer comments about their appearance and performance. If harsh viewer comments are posted on the station’s official website, there is a specific procedure to follow. Ms. Rhonda Lee was let go for repeatedly violating that procedure and after being warned multiple times of the consequences if her behavior continued. Rhonda Lee was not dismissed for her appearance or defending her appearance. She was fired for continuing to violate company procedure.

Wednesday morning Lee spoke with CNN’s Soledad O’Brien about KTBS’s statement.

“I have yet to see this policy. Upon my termination I asked, ‘Could I see it?’ and I was told, ‘No,’” Lee told CNN. “I pled for my job again just this past Friday and asked to see the policy and was told that there isn’t anything written down.”

While that may be true, KTBS provided O’Brien with an email that was issued to the staff on Aug. 30, 2012, that outlines how employees should respond to Facebook complaints from viewers. In short, employees are encouraged not to respond, but if they do, the “only proper response” is to provide the viewer with the contact info for a designated staffer that can help with any pressing issues.

Lee told CNN that she didn’t see the email and feels as though she is being harshly punished for defending herself.

The station provided HuffPost with a copy of the email sent:

Perverted Becky Jailed For Having Sex With Her Son’s Friends | Cynical Afrikan

SueReschke_540x405

Courtney Sue Reschke, a 35-year-old Idaho “white” mother was charged with providing alcohol to and having her vagina fed by four 15-year-old boys. The Idaho Statesman reports that Reschke appeared in 4th District Court on Dec. 3, 2012, on two counts each of felony injury to a child and felony lewd conduct. Prosecutors allege Reschke has had several sexual encounters with friends of her oldest child at her Kuna home since the start of the school year. Reschke’s public defender sought her release without bond so she could keep her job and care for her children. District Judge Cathleen MacGregor Irby said Reschke’s bond conditions include no contact with anyone under the age of 18, including her children. She was jailed on $250,000 bail.

The C.O.W.S. 1984 Study Session Part II

Friday, December 14th 7:00PM Eastern / 4:00PM Pacific

The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly study session on George Orwell’s historic novel, 1984. This week’s installment provides more details on how the use of words govern, control how people think about the world in which they live. One of the key components of 1984 involves the elimination of words. One of the characters takes great pleasure in eliminating words from the dictionary. We’ll quote victim of White Supremacy James Baldwin to emphasize the power of what Orwell’s text illustrates: The victim who is able to articulate the situation of the victim has ceased to be a victim: he or she has become a threat.

Victim of Racial Discrimination Awarded $123K in Zales Lawsuit – ICTMN.com

A woman from Portland, Maine who claimed she was discriminated against at Zales Delaware, Inc. because of her race has been awarded more than $120,000, the Portland Press Herald reported.

In March 2010, RyiSHisa Morris, who is African-American and Native American, tried to return an item to Piercing Pagoda, a subsidiary of the jewelry corporation Zales. The retail clerk denied her request and told her, “I’ve had enough with your kind,” according to the lawsuit.

Still in the store, Morris called customer service, and the clerk “yelled and swore at the plaintiff,” Justice Nancy Mills of the Cumberland County Superior Court wrote in her May 17 ruling. Meanwhile, the store clerk called for mall security, and Morris was surrounded by three security officers, states the complaint filed on December 29, 2011.

Morris’ attorney, Kelly Hoffman of the firm Norman, Hanson & DeTroy, took her case to the Maine Human Rights Commission, which concluded Morris had been the victim of illegal discrimination. The maximum damage fee allowed under Maine law is $100,000. Justice Mills ordered the company to pay the highest penalty amount, plus legal fees and interest for a total of $123,347. According to Norman, Hanson & DeTroy, the company paid the award in full on December 10.

“Those who discriminate need to learn the impact their actions have on victims and society, not only for the sake of justice, but also because doing so will result in more tolerance in the future,” Hoffman said in a written statement. “I’m so impressed by individuals like Ms. Morris who find the courage to speak up when subjected to this type of behavior.”

White Talent Agent Charged With Rape Of A 14-Year-Old Singer | Cynical Afrikan

Murfreesboro cops have arrested a so-called talent agent for sexual assaulting a young singer he was hired to manage.

Sixty-six-year-old Ronald Hicks has been charged with raping a 14-year-old client who he promised to help make a star. Investigators said Hicks convinced the child’s parents to let him take her to Murfreesboro to meet a band and then savagely raped her.

“While they were in Murfreesboro they went to a local hotel parking lot where he sexually assaulted her,” explained Kyle Evans, Murfreesboro Law Enforcement Spokesperson.

The teen’s mother said she trusted Hicks enough to sign him as her daughter’s personal manager. She believed he could help her child realize her dream.

“She wants to be a star. I mean it’s not so important that she would destroy her family or destroy herself for it,” said the teen’s mother.

Well what kind of star did your “white” daughter want to become? A pornstar? Because this peckerwood looks like a child porn producer if you ask me!

The mother said Hick’s sexually ravaged her daughter and her daughter kept the rape a secret for months until tearfully confessing one night.

“Remember all those times you asked me if Ron was ever doing anything and I promised I’d tell you if he was? She said, well he was,” her mother explained.

Kimberly Frank is an agent with Talent Trek, one of the mid-state’s most reputable talent agencies. She said the Hick’s case is a cautionary tale for all parents of young performers

“Parents need to do a lot of homework and list questions when you go talk with someone,” said Frank.

The rapist was arrested after a grand jury indicted him for rape, sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts sexual battery by an authority figure. He was being held in the Rutherford County jail on a $100,000 bond.

I’m Not One Bit Surprised… « Random Ramblings; Myriad Musings

I know, I know…”this isn’t THAT type of neighbourhood!” Well, news flash, geniuses…it is EXACTLY THAT TYPE OF NEIGHBOURHOOD. I’m not one bit surprised that this recent mass-shooting and act of domestic terrorism happened in Crack-o-my-ass County, the white-trashiest, meth-snortingest, nazi-populated armpit of Oregon state. A white guy entered the mall, “jogged” to the food court, and opened fire on the crowd, killing two and injuring another. The killer then fled and was found later by police, dead by what is being called a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The sad, sick, just plain wrong statement in this incident came from a witness who actually saw the guy mere seconds before he began blasting away in the food court. She saw him plain as day, holding his “assault-type rifle” diagonally across his body as he briskly made his way through the Macy’s. Do you know what she said? Exact quote (which I wrote down after backing up the DVR about three times to make certain I got it right): “It didn’t really register. I thought that something fun was going on, like a flash mob or something.” Let me spell that out for you, in case you can’t see it. She saw NOTHING WRONG OR UNTOWARD about a tall, thin white guy, dressed in black and wearing a hockey mask, ‘jogging’ with an assault-type weapon through a crowded mall. Now let me repeat it so that it can sink in: SHE SAW NOTHING WRONG OR UNTOWARD about a TALL, THIN WHITE GUY, DRESSED IN BLACK AND WEARING A HOCKEY MASK, ‘JOGGING’ WITH AN ASSAULT-TYPE WEAPON THROUGH A CROWDED MALL! One more time, in case you really can’t grasp it: SHE SAW NOTHING WRONG OR UNTOWARD about a TALL, THIN WHITE GUY, DRESSED IN BLACK AND WEARING A HOCKEY MASK, ‘JOGGING’ WITH AN ASSAULT-TYPE WEAPON THROUGH A CROWDED MALL! SHE THOUGHT THAT IT WAS ALL FUN AND GAMES!

I know good and well that if the man in question had been a brown or black man, he wouldn’t have gotten five steps through the Macy’s before at least ten CCW holders drew down on him and blasted him to hell and beyond! How sickening is it that, in the aftermath of all of the mass shootings and murders perpetrated by white men, they STILL aren’t profiled at the numbers that non-whites are, and an obviously dangerous person won’t be looked askance at because the privilege of his white skin allows him to carry a loaded weapon into a mall and start shooting. When privilege grants you the freedom to walk through a mall with a loaded weapon and nobody looks at you twice, then you have absolutely NOTHING to fucking complain about. I’ve had many people put me on blast on news sites or blogs, simply because they didn’t like my straightforward comment – never mind that the comment was truthful! I don’t provoke needless, empty controversy to drive traffic to my site in the manner of other publishers – it seems cheap, easy, and a bit lazy to me. I simply observe things and speak on them if I feel moved to do so, and it’s not to get in a debate with anyone over anything – it’s simply speaking my piece, as comment sections claim to invite people to do. That’s one reason I blog, so that I can speak my mind without some jerkwad censoring me needlessly – I can censor myself just fine, thank you very much! Bottom line, though, is that I’m pretty damned accurate with my observations. Accurate observations come from experiencing the world, not hiding from it!

I’m getting off track now, so I’ll end this post. I’m glad I live in a semi-secluded area with few neighbours – and the closest one is three miles away! I like my space and privacy.

Philly pays out millions to alleged police brutality victims | Philadelphia City Paper | 12/13/2012

Anthony Abrams, a psychologist researching drug addiction, was looking for a client on the streets of Kensington when Philadelphia Police Officer Eric Burke pulled up. It was the afternoon of March 8, 2010.

“He said, ‘What are you doing here?’ I said, ‘I’m a psychologist. I’m trying to find a client of mine.’ He immediately slammed me to the ground, put his boot against my head and said, ‘You tell me what you’re doing here or I’m going to kick your fucking head in,’” Abrams testified in June 2011, before a rare hearing of the city’s beleaguered Police Advisory Commission. Burke then put his foot on top of the doctor. “And then,” Abrams continued, “he began stomping my head with his boot.” Witnesses corroborated Abram’s story at the hearing; one said the officer called the white doctor a “disgrace to our race.”

Most Philadelphians lack doctoral degrees. But many, if the city’s increasingly expensive cash payments to alleged victims of official violence are any indication, have received similarly harsh treatment from Philadelphia Police. In 2011, the city paid out $13 million to people alleging harm from police, largely to alleged victims of excessive use of force. Critics say that the city lacks meaningful oversight of police misconduct and, instead of trying to prevent it, treats payments due to the behavior like a cost of doing business. Abrams, who had a titanium plate surgically inserted to repair his crushed eye socket, received $285,000 for his trouble.

“The overall amount of payments that the city has made … would strongly suggest that there is a problem in the Police Department with police violating the civil rights of residents,” says University of Pennsylvania law professor and civil-rights lawyer David Rudovsky. “Even if some of the cases were settled just to avoid the cost of litigation and may not have been fully meritorious, looking at the large number and amounts clearly indicate that there have been many cases in which police have committed troubling acts of misconduct.”

The city, however, doesn’t see a problem, contending that recession-weary Philadelphians and greedy lawyers are suing the city for a paycheck.

“There are more cases every year,” says Craig Straw, the chief deputy city solicitor in the Law Department’s Civil Rights Unit who oversees the legal defense of the city and officers in cases alleging police misconduct. “I look at it this way: The city of Philadelphia has more lawyers than any other city.” The number of lawsuits against police, which he says grows by 300 to 325 each year, is small, he says, given the department’s size.

The city nonetheless contends that it takes the matter seriously. Straw says settlements are closely reviewed to identify and address trends that might provoke lawsuits so as to both improve policing and save taxpayer money.

“Our function is to stop systemic problems,” says Straw. “If we see issues arise, we have an open connection with the commissioner’s office.” He acknowledges that there are “some cases that settle because they’re problem cases.”

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey echoes Straw, saying, “Oftentimes, the city will settle just to avoid prolonged court actions and so forth that can run up quite a tab. But we do have some [cases] where there was clearly some fault on the part of the officers.”

Straw points to two examples of reforms undertaken in response to the Civil Rights Unit’s prodding: crisis-intervention training to improve police treatment of mentally ill civilians in 2007, and, in 2001, a program to reduce injuries caused by handcuffs. The Southeast Pennsylvania Mental Health Association, which helps with the trainings, credits the Police Department for what they call a major success. But the initiative for creating the programs, says SPMHA’s Debbie Plotnick, came from advocates, not the city.

Ramsey mentions a number of other initiatives undertaken in response to lawsuits or complaints: newly emphasized constraints on, and an audit of, the stop-and-frisk policy; reminders that individuals with a permit can carry a gun in the open and that civilians can photograph police; new policies to deal with foot pursuits and the behavior of off-duty officers; directives on how to safely deal with people who have swallowed drugs to dispose of evidence; and trainings in the wake of recent sexual-harassment and assault allegations.

Police violence has in recent years been overshadowed by persistent corruption and wrongdoing scandals, often uncovered by the Daily News: narcotics officers allegedly fabricating evidence and robbing convenience stores in a 2010 investigation, a dysfunctional Firearms Identification Unit in 2011, the promotion of top brass who’ve faced repeated allegations of sexual misconduct in 2012 and another narcotics-squad scandal this year.

As a result, police brutality has faded into the background. For our “Excessive Force” series, City Paper is reviewing a sample of cases alleging violence at the hands of police that resulted in six-figure settlements between 2009 and 2011, including civilians contending they were punched, hit with nightsticks and run over with a car.

“There’s nothing exceptional about it. It’s a level of routinized violence that’s just taken for granted by police officers,” says Penn anthropologist Philippe Bourgois, who, like Abrams, was in 2008 thrown to the ground, kicked and arrested while conducting research on drug corners. Bourgois’ attorney told him the city probably would have settled his case for $15,000. Eager to resume his work, he didn’t sue.

At the center of the current debate is the role and effectiveness of the Police Advisory Commission. Created in 1993 by an executive order by Mayor Ed Rendell, at then-Councilman Michael Nutter’s insistence, the PAC is often derided as toothless. Abrams’ hearing was one of just three held in 2011. The PAC has a bare-bones budget of $275,000 and a reduced staff of just two investigators; it lacks any power to take punitive or corrective action against officers and has had no permanent executive director since July. In 2011, the PAC received 93 complaints, 52 of which it agreed to investigate. The average investigation took 14 months to complete, twice as long as in 2004, when the office had a staff of six.

“You have two investigators for the entire city. It’s designed to fail,” says Councilman Curtis Jones, who has introduced legislation to make the PAC permanent and increase its powers and funding.

“[The police] nowhere near utilize the same normal traditional investigative process they’d use if you or I were accused of a crime,” a militant-sounding Nutter said back in 1995. Today, Nutter has changed his tune and opposes Jones’ bill. “The mayor,” says spokesperson Mark McDonald, “believes that the current institutional arrangement works. … We do not see the need for what the councilman has proposed.”

PAC interim executive director Kelvyn Anderson, who says “we’ve always felt that permanency and a proper budget was something that we needed to do the job well,” nonetheless insists that the PAC is no dead letter. “There are many folks that believe that an oversight agency that does not have the ability to hire and fire is useless,” he says. “I don’t think our history bears that contention out.”

Anderson emphasizes they are working to “expand public knowledge and engagement” with regard to complaint data and the reporting of fatal incidents.

Ramsey says he wouldn’t “have a problem” with Jones’ bill. The Fraternal Order of Police, however, is an ardent defender of the status quo and has opposed the bill. In March, the FOP wrote a charged letter to the PAC accusing it of posing “a direct threat to public safety in this city.” FOP Lodge 5 president John McNesby did not respond to requests for comment.

The FOP routinely fights the disciplining of its members. It files grievances with arbitrators, who then frequently overturn the punishment meted out by superiors. Ramsey says that he is “not a big fan of arbitration. I’ve seen decisions that have gone against the city when I think clearly the evidence was such that the department was justified in the discipline that was administered.”

“This is the most difficult, challenging legislation that I will propose,” says Jones, regarding the political opposition. “It goes down right next to taxation.”

Next in the series: A review of how officers accused of excessive use of force are dealt with.

A Tribute, Apology, and Thanks to Emissary of War

It has come to my attention that a commenter to this blog with the handle, “Denzelsausageton” has the same handle as Tariq Nasheed, producer of the documentary series Hidden Colors. While looking for commentary by Denzelsausageton on this blog, I found this gem by EmmissaryOfWar addressed to Mr. Sausageton. I so very much regret that I did not reply to it when it first appeared. The reason that i did not respond is that I barely skimmed it for I could not bare to read it then. You see, EmmissaryOfWar has been someone who has always been so supportive of logic even when it took a detour of whatever was popular in a given clique. He has also been an investor in my efforts by allowing me to purchase several books by authors I have interviewed on my radio program. I was terrified of my disappointment if even he had turned a deaf ear to us. My soul just could not take it.

When I read the comment this evening, with my soul re-charged from the relentless hammering by black males who I’d never questioned as allies and followers of logic before, what I discovered was the only summary of the case that the black women on this blog have been addressing our collective mistreatment by our counter-parts including their refusal to listen to us talk about it. So, this post is a message form Mr. EmissaryOfWar to Denzel Sausageton (AKA Tariq Nasheed?) and other black men who hold views similar to those Mr. Sausageton expressed on this blog

@Denzelsausageton

“There are BASIC ideals that need to be understood before we can think of defeating our supreme enemy and some of the primary ones are. The UNION of the OPPOSITE. This ideal according to Ourstory is many millennia old and seems to play an important part in balance. Another truth seems to be, that you cannot rise higher than your Black women. She reflects the status of your society/home. So if it is ok for her to be punched, beat, raped, abducted, ritually sacrificed and then discarded, then what chance does our group have and how much longer would a such thing as the Black man exist. Seems to me that the height of selfishness for Black men would be to protect the Black womb from where he comes, at all cost.
Yeah white people are problem 1a but Black people and our behavior and relationships towards one another are problem 1b. We are going to have to multitask and work on both at the same time. And yes multitasking can be difficult, but I don’t think we have any other choice. This topic, that Cree and other Black women are relentlessly bringing attention to, has to be dealt with in order to recreate the UNION that is Black Woman/Man. It can be tough to hear some of their words but those words need to be said and we HAVE to listen. She carries the life and also civilizes the society, so if we truly want Maat, then her energy and concerns need to push thru; forcefully sometimes. Black men should never try to shut up a reasonable Black women and we should walk away when reason is not being displayed. Another basic ideal is that the Black man is the protector of his society and we have failed at that greatly(many say we are cowardly). So we may want to work on protecting our women instead trying to quiet them when they are pointing out deadly flaws.”

ABC chairman Jim Spigelman slams ALP laws that make it illegal to be offensive | The Australian

ABC chairman and former top jurist Jim Spigelman has warned that a planned overhaul of discrimination law will impose unprecedented restrictions on free speech, including making it unlawful to offend people, leaving the nation isolated from international norms.

The Gillard government’s planned consolidation of all federal discrimination laws would significantly redraw the line between permissible and unlawful speech and open the way for the banning of publications, said Mr Spigelman, the immediate past chief justice of NSW.
